CEC will be offering Summer camps this June & July, so go ahead and sign up. During the month of June, camps will be offered as a virtual, online learning experience. Campers enrolled in July programs will have the option of participation virtually or onsite (we will evaluate onsite plans in mid June). Summer camps will look a bit different this year to reflect CDC guidelines. Here are the options:
On-site like past years, with health safety practices: Camps will be limited to 10 campers. Campers will need to wear masks and practice social distancing. Hands-on materials will not be shared or will be disinfected between campers. Disinfecting will be thorough and frequent of all spaces used by campers.
Virtual, on-line camp: Choose the camp of your choice from our schedule below and register. Once you pay for the camp, you will be mailed a “camp-in-a-box” kit as well as emailed a link for the virtual part of camp. We will take you on hikes, have discussions and group activities, and guide you through experiments and activities using the materials sent to you in your camp kit box.
The final option is a combination. The first ten campers who want to attend onsite will come to CEC while additional campers can attend simultaneously virtually using our “camp-in-a-box” kit.
Whichever option you choose, all details remain the same dates, time, ages, and cost. While we hope we can all be together for camp at CEC, we want you to know that camp will happen. So, start planning your summer and sign up now!
[Registration] Opens February 1st for members and March 1st for non-members (NOW OPEN!). Head on over to Cope Environmental Center to pick up a registration form (one per child), or call us at (765) 855 – 3188 to request a form to be emailed to you. You may also fill out our online registration form at the bottom of this web page.
[The details] Camps are designed for the grade your child will be entering in the fall. 7th graders-12th graders are able to volunteer as “Junior Camp Rangers” for any of the Pre-K/K or 1st-3rd, and 4th-6th-grade programs.
For onsite programs, if your child is staying for lunch, we have a supervised lunch hour from 12-1 pm. There is an additional cost of $2 per day that your child eats with staff. You will need to provide a healthy lunch with minimal waste for your child (any lunch trash that is brought will be sent back home with your child).
Please make sure you send extra clothes (shirt, shorts, undies, socks, etc.), a towel, a refillable water bottle, and water shoes on the first day. Campers can leave their things in their cubbies for the entire week, as needed. We will send home any wet clothes or shoes daily.
Onsite camps happen rain or shine – Please be prepared for the weather!
3-hour morning programs: $60 for members and $70 for non-members
6-hour programs: $120 for members and $140 for non-members
3-hour afternoon programs: $60 for members and $70 for non-members
Registering for multiple camps? Get $5 off each additional camp you register for!
If your child is in Conservation Camp or Wilderness Survival, please make sure he/she brings their lunch to camp. We also ask that you try and work with your child to pack a lunch that is as “trash-free” as possible! These two weeks also include an overnight option on Thursday night. Campers will need to bring sleeping gear and be prepared to sleep in a tent. Campers will need to be picked up at noon on Friday.
[Scholarships] Camp scholarships are available, however, they are limited and need-based. You can download the 2020 summer camp scholarship application(call us if you want more info!) and return it to CEC with the following items:
- The completed scholarship application.
- A copy of your tax return so that we can calculate your eligibility (based on Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Guidelines.
- Your completed summer program registration form.
