“Green thumb” takes on a whole new meaning at the garden at Cope. Every year a community garden is planted that is harvested and donated to local food pantries. This year, our garden has just finished its third planting of the year as of August 11th, and it is growing like crazy! The first round of planting took place in February, led by our Bonner student and first time gardener, Cait. We have planted a variety of fruits and vegetables including broccoli, beets, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, multiple herbs, and much more! So far this year, we have donated over 100 pounds of food to local food pantries! We would like to give a special shout out to Orscheln for donating all of the seeds used in the garden. We would also like to recognize garden heroes such as volunteers Eileen and Mike, who take such good care of the garden, and Matt and Ezra who keep our garden wet and watered! Lastly, we would like to give a big thank-you to Matt and Becky who come every Wednesday to harvest and deliver. Let’s watch as our garden continues growing!
