The following excerpt is from a letter sent to us in December 2006 by one of our most faithful volunteers (pictured above).

"Another year has past for me here at the Cope Environmental Center as a full fledge volunteer finishing my third year.

I'm 78 years of age, but here I think I'm 58.

Here at the center, the staff named me 'Mr. Fix-it' and 'Bluegill' as nick names. The 'Bluegill' part came-a-bout, due that I help the staff with their fishing program (with Girls Inc.). The kids all call me 'Bluegill' and I love working with them each summer.

I only hope that my health holds out, so that I can be of some assistance, here at the wonderful Cope Environmental Center for future years. What a great ride it has been for me the past three years."

Sincerely,
Dan "Bluegill" Fienning
