CEC Upcoming Programs & Events for March
Want to help make our dream of becoming Living Building Challenge (LBC)-certified come true? CEC’s hours of operation have changed for Saturdays until further notice – we will be open on the first Saturday of every month only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday – Friday hours remain 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Our trails will still remain open, dawn to dusk, every day.

Come out to Cope on March 2, 2019,
from 10-11:30 a.m. for a Woods Walk! Investigate signs of spring while
searching for skunk cabbage and tuning in to bird songs. What birds are
starting to return to the area? Program is open to all ages. $2/person if you
register before the program. $3/person for day-of registration. Children 5
& under are FREE!

City Life: Photo gallery by Ed DeLaPaz is on display until March 31st
Local graphic designer and
photographer Ed DeLaPaz highlights his photo gallery City Life, which is
focused on the people, community, and life of a small Midwestern city.
All art work is for sale and 30% of the purchase
price goes back to Cope Environmental Center in support of environmental education

March 20 – Toddler Time: Wake Up, Spring!
You are never too young to enjoy nature! Join us for monthly Toddler Time where kids explore the outdoors of CEC through a story, hands-on activities, crafts, and a hike. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Be sure to dress for the weather. Toddler Time happens rain or shine.
Date: Wednesday, March 20, 2019
Time: 10-11 a.m.
Place: 1730 Airport Rd., Centerville, Ind.
Fee: $3 per child before the day of the program; $5 per child for day of registration
Registration: Required. We ask that you sign up before the day of the program – there is a price increase for day-of-program registration.

March. 23 – E-Waste Recycling
Recycle your old electronics so that parts can be re-purposed. Don’t let useful parts go to waste in the landfill. E-Waste Recycling happens on the fourth Saturday of every month (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to noon.
Check out this link for a list of acceptable items. (NOTE: Please do not bring electronics with CRT tubes – older computer monitors and televisions – these will not be accepted.)

January 14 – March 25, 2019 – Get Outside Challenge
Thanks to the support of Reid
Health, CEC has kick-started another season of the Get Outside Challenge! This
10 week initiative aims to challenge our community to spend more time being
This challenge is for anyone and everyone who wants to become healthier and happier in the great outdoors this winter.
Plus, there are prizes and it is free. Kids can participate, too. Just track the amount of active time you spend outside between Jan. 14 through March 25. Start the year off right with a happier, healthier you! For more info on what this initiative is all about and how you can participate, please visit our Get Outside Challenge page.
March. 28 – Sustainable & Attainable: Food Waste
What happens to the leftover food on your table when you eat out at a restaurant? Discover ways to limit food waste and learn about local programs that work to distribute leftover food to those in need. Light refreshments will be provided. No RSVP required.
